Cor Scorpii - Attergangar
Reviewed by Antonis Maglaras February 2006.
I have the honor to review the debut album from Cor
Scorpii, a new band from Norway. "Attergangar" is the title of their
demo which has four tracks and almost twenty five minutes of pure
metal music. The main song writer is Gaute, who was in Windir too,
but now the band isn't any more. So with more free time Gaute,
finally able to write all the songs in this demo and of course
musically Cor Scorpii is a mixture of Windir influences but also is
a combination of melodic black metal, with death metal elements and
some folk tunes too. The compositions are well worked with
interesting ideas and generally the song structure is remarkable. So
sit back in your seat and be prepared to follow the music from Cor
Scorpii with the aggression and the melodies to combine perfectly
with a dark atmosphere and a cold sense of Norway. I believe that
Cor Scorpii is a theatrical band and they transfer a lot of feelings
and images through their music and this is the one of the best
things, to travel through the music to foreign countries. For sure
the demo from Cor Scorpii is one of the few very good debut releases
and i am sure that soon or later the band will find a label to help
them to release their debut album too. Check it out immediately.
SCORE 8.8/10
